Completing an ESL program in the USA to improve your English this summer is a great idea. You’ll be immersed in an English-language environment and get to practice your language skills every day. But choosing which city to study in can be difficult.

However, Boston should definitely be high on your list. This large and diverse city welcomes students from all over the world every year. It has many features that make it especially attractive to ESL students. Here’s a look at just three of them.

1. Boston Is a Student City That Offers Plenty of Places to Study English

Boston is home to some of the best colleges in the world, such as Harvard and MIT. There are actually more than 100 colleges and universities in the Boston area, which has a huge student population. For this reason, it’s important to choose a city that is easy to get around in without a car. It would be hard to find a city in the US that is more walkable than Boston. In fact, it is nicknamed “The Walking City” because so many people here walk to work or school.

Beyond walking, there are other ways to get around. Hubway, for example, is a bike-sharing program you can use to bike around the city. Boston also has an excellent transit system, including the oldest subway in North America, streetcars, buses, water ferries, and commuter trains. Long-distance bus and train service is also available to other cities, allowing you to reach New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. in less than a day.
